Scarlett Johansson has filed a lawsuit against an AI app, “Lisa AI: 90’s Yearbook & Avatar,” for using her image and name without consent. The app used real footage of Johansson to create a deepfake clip of the actress for an advertisement. Despite a disclaimer claiming the images were produced by Lisa AI, Johansson’s attorney, Kevin Yorn, stated that her likeness was used without permission, taken from a campaign she did with Omaze. Yorn emphasized the seriousness of the matter and confirmed legal action would be taken. The ad, originally posted on X (formerly Twitter), has been removed.
In the ad, a behind-the-scenes clip of Johansson on the set of Marvel’s Black Widow was shown, transitioning into AI-generated images resembling the actor. A deepfaked voice, imitating Johansson, promoted the AI app, stating it was not limited to avatars and could create images with texts and AI videos.
